RESEARCH

My research interests include marine to terrestrial depositional environments of the Phanerozoic, and incorporates large scale process sedimentation as well as small scale sedimentary structures. My research encompasses two interest areas: energy-related systems and data analysis, and evolution of wetlands through geologic time. I use a variety of techniques including seismic interpretation and seismic extractions, well log interpretation, core logging, and field work.

Current Research:
I'm currently researching the deposition of large aeolian systems in the Western Interior USA during the Mesozoic, and their utility as CO2 sequestration reservoirs. This includes extensive field work in Utah, incorporated with historic hydrocarbon industry data. Additionally I am researching the identification of coastal, forested ombrogenous peat domes in the rock record, currently focusing on the John Henry member coals of the Kaiparowits Plateau.
